Non-Immigrant Retirement Visa “O” Details
There is an requirement by immigration to show 800k in a bank account for 2 months (current rules when this page is published). To make things easy we support a service to open a bank account for you.
The documentation requirements are detailed, lengthy and require authentication. This can lead to a tedious frustrating process and potentially multiple visits to immigration and a lot of queuing.
Visa for Over 50 Years
You must be over 50 years old to apply with a passport with at least 6 months validity and 2 empty pages.
Show Funds of 800k for Limited Time
An applicant must meet any of the following financial requirements (A or B or C):
A) Security deposit of 800,000 baht (THB) in a Thai bank account for 2 months prior to the visa application and for 3 months after the approval (current rules are unclear) of the 90 Day visa. then the Visa is extended within Phuket. Come in and ask about our financial support service.
B) Monthly Income from a foreign source of 65,000 baht.
C) Combination of security deposit and annual income with a total of 800,000 baht
Income verified by your countries embassy.
90 Day Reporting
As with other Non “O” Visa’s. There is a 90 day reporting requirement. In Phuket there is a very good drive through service at Phuket Town immmigration. Alternatively the process can be completed online.
Application process
What you will need to get started:
- Adult passport including the pages with stamps on including the detail page, current visa/extension, all extensions from last Non-O visa or transfer stamp to new passport. (If applicable).
- Leave plenty of days left before expiry on your current Thai visa we recommend at least (15 days)
- Valid passport (6 months) with 2 blank pages
- 800,000 THB security deposit in an account for at least 2 months prior to the retirement visa application
- Alternatively provide evidence of monthly income above 65,000 Baht. Note many embassies no longer issue a required letter of proof (which is relevant to pension income). Another option to prove income is tax payment in Thailand with PND.1 and PND91.
- TM30 receipt (should be stapled into your passport the last time you entered Thailand)

Step 3
Retirement Visa Application
Once you have completed the guardian registration contact us and we will help prepare 2 copies of the documentation for the guardian visa application. you must take the application to immigration office. We have staff at the office to help.
3 Month Visa then 1 Year Extensions
The initial visa that will be given to you is valid for 3 months (90 days standard NON “O” issue), before the period expires, you can renew it for 1-year extension yearly as long as you comply to the requirements of the Visa. At present you do not need to leave Thailand and re-enter.

Retirement Visa Extensions
The Visa can extended every year providing the immigration rules are met. The documentation must be re produced, updated according to any new rules every year and signed. You must take the application to Phuket Immigration.

Work is prohibited on this Visa you can work on a marriage visa or business visa.
